Katarina Mrzelj Original Hand Weaving
The story of Katarina Mrzelj
The tradition of hand weaving in the Mrzelj family began in 1970. Notably, Katarina’s mother was already skilled in weaving, while her father worked on handlooms. Consequently, Katarina’s creations represent an upgraded and more modern version of this long family history. Since graduating from a school specializing in design and photography in 1995, she has continued her education, earning a degree in landscape architecture in 2003. Thus, her diverse background influences her unique approach to weaving.
The tradition of hand weaving – A fashion concept
Although this style uses a technique that has existed for centuries, no one before Katarina thought of transforming it into such modern and stylish garments. Each design is handmade and meticulously perfected throughout every step of its creation. Therefore, these pieces blend the past and present in a way never seen before. Because every item is handmade, each garment is unique and original in its own way. As a result, the collection is elegant, feminine, and suitable for any occasion.
Katarina’s customers
The customers of Handwoven Mrzelj garments do not want clothes produced by mass manufacturers. Instead, they seek garments that are one of a kind, distinct, and above all, comfortable. Furthermore, washing the garments is easy since they are machine washable and require no special care. In addition, the fabrics are pre-washed before sewing, so there is no need to worry about shrinking. Since the designs contain no zippers or buttons, the pieces are timeless and feature simple shapes. This makes it easy to mix and match with other items in your wardrobe. At Modern Showroom, we are completely in love with this beautiful collection and are confident that you will be too!
